Home Articles Royal puppet show for Peterlee care home residents
A ROYAL puppet show took place at a Peterlee care home in celebration of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
To mark the big day, puppeteer Clare Cuppers created a special show for the residents of Bannatyne Lodge Care Home in County Durham.
She often performs at the care home, delivering therapeutic sessions for those living with dementia.
Clare said: “When Bannatyne Lodge approached me to do a show for the royal wedding I designed one with the residents in mind.”
Alongside the show, the residents also took part in a themed arts and crafts session, creating fascinators to wear for the day.
They had a singalong to love songs and enjoyed afternoon tea and a glass of bubbly.
Resident Audrey Lowes said: “I was honoured to be the bride at the party. I wish the royal couple all the best.”
Lynn Chapman, home manager of Bannatyne Lodge Care Home, on Manor Way, said: “Everyone wanted to celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day so we decided to theme the day around the royal wedding.
“Clare created a brilliant love-themed puppet show for our residents, we held an arts and crafts session and had afternoon tea with and prosecco. We all had a lovely time.”
