A BRIE-LLIANT time was had by Stockton care home residents celebrating National Cheese Lover’s Day.
Crackers and cocktails sticks were flying as those living at The Beeches Care Home Newtown got stuck into a wide variety of delicious local and international cheeses.
The samples included everything from local cheddar through to Mexican chilli cheese.
After taking a taste, the residents discussed their favourites, likes and dislikes and washed it down with a cup of tea.
Residents Sheila Storr, Rosemary Tait and Laura Nelson gave their verdicts.
Sheila said: “It’s nice to try different things but the Mexican chilli cheese was a bit hot and set my mouth on fire.”
Rosemary concluded: “I enjoyed the brie the best because it’s so nice and creamy.”
And Laura declared her allegiance to local cheesemakers, along with other residents. She said: “You can’t beat the taste of a good old local cheddar.”
Amy Trattles, activities coordinator at The Beeches Care Home, in Stockton on Tees, said: “Residents love to try new and different things, so we had tasters of all sorts of cheeses.
“We offered everyone some nice white wine as well but everyone declined, preferring a nice cup of tea.”
