Home Press Releases Care home donates Christmas hamper to Sheffield food bank
A GIANT hamper full of food has been donated to those less fortunate this Christmas following a Sheffield care home appeal.
The Laurels and The Limes Care Home, on Manchester Road, has been taking donations of canned and dried goods from staff, residents and their families.
The appeal was the idea of care assistant Ruth Brears, who wanted to help The Trussell Trust, which operates a dozen foodbanks across the region.
Canned soup, vegetables, meat, biscuits, cereal and more has since been donated to the charity, which will distribute them to those in need over the festive holidays.
Ruth said: “We would like to thank everyone who has donated to our food bank appeal.
“We have had an overwhelming response and the hamper was overflowing from all the donations.
“These will make a real difference to those in need over Christmas and New Year, which can be a very difficult time for some.”
