Home Press Releases Care home revives legendary Liverpool nightclub
A LEGENDARY Liverpool nightclub was revived by elderly care home residents for a party to mark International Day for Older People.
The Grafton on West Derby Road – which shot to national prominence 20 years ago when it was the subject of a six-part BBC2 series – came back for a night at a care home just 15 miles away.
“A night down at the Grafton”, as the party was named, was enjoyed by residents, families and friends of Simonsfield Care Home, on Boston Avenue, Runcorn.
Staff turned the home’s cinema room into a makeshift Grafton nightclub for the event, which included signage above the door, disco lights, glowsticks, records hanging from the ceiling and an open bar.
Debbie Smith, home manager at Simonsfield Care Home, said: “When it came to closing the club around 9.30pm the residents didn’t want the night to end.
“The night was such a hit we will reopen the Grafton again in the near future.”
