Home Press Releases Care home staff summit Roseberry Topping for Macmillan
HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised to support those with cancer when care home staff summited Roseberry Topping – an iconic North Yorkshire landmark.
More than half a dozen staff members from Briarwood Care Home, Normanby Road, in Eston, near Middlesbrough, reached the peak of Roseberry Topping.
The sponsored walk raised £545 for Macmillan Cancer Support, the 2019/20 chosen charity (Macmillan) of the Hill Care Group, which operates the home.
The home’s residents waved the team off on their journey to the summit of the unique hill, situated near Great Ayton and Newton under Roseberry.
Emma Green, deputy manager at Briarwood Care Home, was among those who took part.
She said: “Residents wanted to join in but, unfortunately, none have mobility to walk up the hill so settled for sending us off with smiles.
“The views on the walk were breath taking and when we reached the top it felt amazing.
“It was a fantastic team effort by all. Everyone was amazing and, for some people, this was their first time up Roseberry Topping. It was for a fantastic cause.”
