Home Press Releases Care industry veteran takes the helm at Sheffield home
A NEW home manager with over two decades of care industry experience has taken the helm at a Sheffield care home.
Craig White has been appointed to the top job at The Limes Care Home, on Manchester Road, in Broomhill.
The home offers traditional nursing and residential care, alongside the specialist dementia care offered at sister home The Laurels.
Craig first started working in care at the age of 15, as a care assistant on the night shift at a home in Worksop.
He quickly rose through the ranks over the next six years, becoming a senior care assistant, unit manager and then deputy manager.
In 2013, he moved into senior management, becoming the business and compliance manager at a care home in Barnsley, where the team won the Regional Care Home of the Year – North 2018 award.
Craig was then put in charge of three 300 bed “super” care homes in the region, before applying for the home manager role at The Laurels and The Limes Care Home.
He said: “I used to do trouble shooting management, going into struggling homes and turning them around, but I applied for the position at The Limes as I wanted a quieter life.
“The home already had a “Good” CQC rating when I joined and now we’re pushing forward, giving the home some TLC with some revamping and redecorating.
“My philosophy in care home management is that I work in the residents’ home, they don’t live in my care home. It’s all about the residents and making them feel at home and it always has been.”
