CHRISTMAS gifts for residents at a Chesterfield care home have been donated by staff from Chatsworth Health and Fitness Club.

Hats, gloves, sweet treats and hygiene products were among the Christmas gifts received by residents at Springbank House Care Home, on Ashgate Road.

Millie Whiteley, a fitness instructor at Chatsworth Health and Fitness Club, is the granddaughter of resident Kay Whiteley.

She was joined by other staff at the club who all helped fill and wrap shoeboxes full of goodies before delivering them to the home.

They were then handed out to the residents by care assistant Sam Bennett dressed as Santa Claus at the annual Christmas party – which included a carol singing afternoon and buffet lunch.

One resident received a woolly hat, half bottle of prosecco, a small Christmas pudding, manicure set, hand lotion, a tree ornament, lavender soap and sweets.

Karen Busby, home manager at Springbank House Care Home, said: “We are so grateful to the Chatsworth House Health and Fitness Club team for thinking of our residents this Christmas.

“The shoeboxes were full of wonderful goodies and the residents were so excited and grateful when they opened them at the Christmas party.

“Everyone at Springbank House would like to say a big thank you to the team at Chatsworth House for the beautiful boxes and all their work in putting these together.”
