Home Press Releases Choir singers celebrate care home resident’s 96th birthday
CHOIR singers surprised a Teesside care home resident with a special performance for his 96th birthday.
John Podzukites, who lives at Ingleby Care Home, was visited by more than a dozen singers from the Wilton Male Voice Choir.
John was a former member of the choir, from 1987 to 2014, before retiring when he felt he could no longer sing well enough.
There was also a surprise party for his birthday, his family decorated his room with balloons and banners and fellow residents at the home joined in for several songs.
John also stood up to perform a song he spontaneously put together to say thank you.
John said: “I am taken aback by the celebrations and humbled that everyone took the time out to celebrate my birthday.”
Kirsty Walsh, activities coordinator at Ingleby Care Home, on Lamb Lane, said: “The performance from Wilton Choir was brilliant.
“The gentlemen really brought an amazing atmosphere to the care home. We really appreciate them giving their time to make our resident’s day.”
