Home Press Releases City’s own Santa Claus delivers 60 presents for residents
DOZENS of Christmas presents have been donated to North Yorkshire’s elderly thanks to kind-hearted community generosity.
Sixty gifts were dropped off at Sycamore Hall Care Home, on Kearsley Road, Ripon, after an appeal from Lisa Dalton, who lives in the town.
For the second year in a row, Lisa has organised an community collection for the elderly, with Sycamore Hall receiving a present for every single resident.
Lisa collected almost 400 presents in total, with deliveries to care homes across the region.
Lisa said: “I feel so strongly about doing this, because knowing a lot of them don’t have family, it’s rewarding to know that we can make a difference to someone’s life.
“Bringing a smile on Christmas Day is what it’s all about. The elderly feel happy when they see the gifts because it’s for them, and it’s from the Ripon community.”
Chrissie Medway Steele, home manager at Sycamore Hall Care Home, said: “Lisa is Ripon’s very own Santa Claus.
“We can’t thank her and the Ripon community enough for all the gifts for our residents.
“They are going to make their Christmas day, knowing their community is thinking about them during what can be a lonely time for those without family.”
