Home Press Releases Coffee mornings launched for Sheffield’s lonely
A LEADING charity for older people has teamed up with a care home to provide social occasions for Sheffield’s older community that may be feeling lonely.
Age UK Sheffield and The Laurels and The Limes Care Home, on Manchester Road, have started running weekly coffee mornings for residents and visitors.
Anyone is welcome to attend the coffee mornings, run from 10am until 12noon every Monday, at The Laurels and The Limes Care Home.
Elspeth Mallowan, from Age UK Sheffield, said: “We provide hot drinks, cakes and biscuits, as well as an opportunity to socialise.
“The coffee mornings are as much for the residents as they are for anyone else who would like to come along. There will be something for everyone, from people who just like a natter to a range of activities.”
Craig White, home manager at The Limes Care Home, said: “We are delighted to team up with Age UK Sheffield to provide weekly coffee mornings for our residents and the wider community.
“One of the key focus areas for the charity is older people who live on their own and have little, if any, social interaction.
“We offered the café area at the home as a meeting point and said we would set up a coffee morning, where they could invite their service users and any other members of the community who would like to come along.”
