Home Press Releases Cricket and cream tea at care home’s Yorkshire Day
YORKSHIRE DAY celebrations reached the most northerly borders of the county, as Middlesbrough care home residents enjoyed cricket and a traditional lunch.
The Gables Care Home, in Middlesbrough, served up local sausages and Yorkshire puddings followed by a few innings.
Dodging the showers, 81-year-old resident Gordon Clarke hit three boundaries, before being bowled out by activities coordinator Cath Taylor.
A break for adverse weather saw the residents, staff and visitors retire to the pavilion for a cream tea.
Cath said: “We wanted to celebrate Yorkshire Day with the rest of the county.
“We knew the residents would enjoy a game of cricket on a summer’s afternoon, as well as a traditional lunch and cream tea after the action. Everyone had a great time.”
