Home Press Releases Cute and cuddly creatures bring care home cheer
CUTE and cuddly creatures were brought into a Middlesbrough care home as part of an animal therapy session.
Pet supplies retailer Pets at Home, on Skippers Lane, Middlesbrough, took baby rabbits and guinea pigs to The Gables Care Home, on Highfield Road.
Residents were given the chance to stroke and hold the furry critters, which helps to alleviate stress and boost sociability.
Ann Barker, who lives at the home, said: “The guinea pig was so cute and his fur was so soft.
“How kind of the girls from Pets at Home to let us hold these sweet animals.”
Kate Charlton, home manager, said: “Whenever we get animals in the home, the residents always get so excited and engaged.
“These sessions have a positive, visible impact on their moods and they talk about the animals for days after.
“Following the recent visit from Pets at Home, both the staff and residents have been begging to get a fluffy bunny for the home now.”
