Home Press Releases Dawn awarded for 25 years’ service to elderly
A CARE worker has received an award for 25 years’ service to elderly Skelmersdale residents.
Dawn Cannell started working at Aaron Crest Care Home, on Tanhouse Road, just a year after it opened in 1993.
She joined in November 1994 as a care assistant, a role she held for 18 years, before becoming a laundry assistant for two years and then head housekeeper for the past five years.
To mark her milestone at the home, Hill Care Group regional manager Sophie Gardiner presented Dawn with a bouquet of flowers, a certificate and a bottle of wine.
Dawn said: “I live just around the corner form the home, so it’s always been convenient for me to get to work.
“The staff and residents are like a second family to me. All the staff look out for each other and get on really well.
“When I started, we had to wear the paper hats and would have to make them up every day. They were a nightmare, as every time you had to bath someone, the hat would fall off into the bath. Thankfully that has changed.
“I’ve always had a huge respect for the elderly generation. They are wonderful people who want to be loved and cared for and that makes me proud that we can achieve that for someone in our care.
“I’m so grateful to Hill Care and the rest of the staff at Aaron Crest for making me feel so special on my 25th work anniversary. The gifts are lovely.”
Sophie said: “Dawn is a much-loved member of staff who has been at the home longer than anyone.
“Her dedication and love for her work are exemplary. She always has a smile on her face and is amazing with the residents.
“The 25 years’ service award is the least we could do for such hard-working and dedicated member of the team.”
