Home Press Releases Disney characters at Tyneside care home on World Book Day
BUZZ Lightyear to Disney princesses all paid a visit to Tyneside care home residents for World Book Day.
Pupils from Lemington Riverside Primary School dressed as their favourite characters for a trip to Waverley Lodge Care Home, on Bewick Crescent, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The year 1 and 2 pupils, all 5 and 6 years old, wore costumes including Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Jasmine from Aladdin, Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, among others.
They also read some of their favourite books to the residents, including Wibble Wobble, by Miriam Moss and Joanna Mockler.
Resident Kenneth “Sandy” Sandercock, 74, had the children laughing when he pretended to mispronounce the book’s name.
Julie Booth, home manager at Waverley Lodge Care Home, said: “Sandy thought the book had a silly name so he started saying “Wobble Wobble” over and over again, which had the children in fits of giggles.
“Everyone had a great time with the visit and the children all looked fantastic in their costumes.
“It’s always a pleasure to receive a visit from the school and we look forward to seeing them again in future.”
