Home Press Releases Hartlepool Mayor helps raise funds for the Stroke Association
A CHARITY coffee afternoon at a Hartlepool care home received a special visit from the town’s new Mayor.
Ceremonial Mayor of Hartlepool Coun Allan Barclay shared a cuppa with residents at Queens Meadow Care Home, on Stockton Road.
Mayor Coun Barclay said: “There is nothing better than having a cuppa and a chat with the residents.”
The home was hosting the event to raise funds for the Stroke Association, with a cake and book sale.
There was also a raffle, when staff member Sharon Elson won a giant Stroke Association teddy bear.
The event raised £110 for the charity, with a resident’s family choosing to donate an additional £100 directly.
Julie Armstrong, home manager at Queens Meadow Care Home, said: “The Stroke Association coffee morning was a huge success.
“We’d like to thank Mayor Barclay for attending and chatting with the residents. It was very kind of him to find the time to visit us and we look forward to seeing him again in future.”
