Home Press Releases Leg waxing brings reindeer to care home’s Christmas party
RUDOLF will be at a Teesside care home Christmas party after staff members sacrificed their leg hair for the reindeer.
Maintenance man Dave O’Malley and chef Paul Milford took one for the team at Mandale House Care Home, on Acklam Road, Thornaby, after agreeing to a sponsored leg wax.
Residents Brenda Turner and Valerie McHale helped holistic beauty therapist Danielle Crowther, daughter senior care assistant Vin McNamara, conduct the waxing in front of an audience at the care home.
Brenda said: “I’d like to have a go at that. I hope it doesn’t hurt too much.”
The hair-raising event received over £330 in donations, which will go towards the Christmas fun day, on Sunday, 15th December.
The attractions will include a real reindeer, Christmas craft activities, games, festive music, as well as mince pies, mulled wine and other refreshments.
Dave said: “We’d discussed bringing a reindeer to the home to make the residents’ Christmas extra special, but it was quite expensive, so when Louise asked for volunteers to have their legs waxed Paul and I stepped up to the mark.”
Louise Clements, home manager at Mandale House Care Home, said: “Everyone at Mandale House is very grateful to Dave and Paul for putting their legs on the line to raise funds for the Christmas fun day.
“The money will help towards bringing a reindeer to the home to make everyone’s day extra special.
“The fun day is open to the public, if you’d like to come along. There will be something for everyone, including a visit from the reindeer at 2pm.”
