Home Press Releases Nursery children visit care home for Storytelling Week
YOUNGSTERS shared their favourite storybook characters with elderly care home residents as part of National Storytelling Week.
Cinderella, The Gruffalo, Peppa Pig and Thomas the Tank Engine were some of those given to residents at The Beeches Care Home, on Green Lane, in Stockton-on-Tees.
The children from Rosedene Nurseries, in Hardwick Community Centre, Whessoe Road, spent time in the home colouring in the characters as part of the activity.
Several residents also joined in, helping the children with their colouring, including Alwyn Behan, Hilda Henderson, Audrey Pratt, Violet Pinegar, Doreen Jordison, Margaret Harrison, Irene Adams and Dorothy Shaw.
They were given the completed pictures as gifts.
Audrey said: “It was so lovely to see the children. They were so polite and the pictures they drew were lovely. It was really nice. I hope to see them again.”
Alwyn said: “The children who came in yesterday were so full energy and the pictures they drew for me were nice.”
Jessica Brown, acting home manager at The Beeches Care Home, said: “We’re always looking to build connections with the wider community, such as with Rosedene Nurseries.
“Visits from the children always bring so much energy into the home and really lift the mood of the residents.
“Everyone loved them being here and sharing their favourite storybook characters as part of National Storytelling Week. We’re all hoping to see them again soon.”
