Home Press Releases Seaside stroll down memory lane for 92-year-old Marion
A TRIP to the seaside turned into a decades old walk down memory lane for one Bolton care home resident.
Marion Carr, 92, was taken on a day out to Lytham St Annes, near Blackpool, by staff at Lever Edge Care Home.
For Marion, who hasn’t visited the seaside resort town for almost 80 years, it was a trip back in time to her childhood.
She said: “I have fond memories of visiting as a youngster, having fish and chips and going on the beach. My parents were quite strict so I had to be on my best behaviour.
“Going back today has been the best day of my life.”
Marion was joined by over half a dozen other residents from Lever Edge Care Home, on Lever Edge Lane, Great Lever, in Bolton.
They were treated to fish and chips for lunch as well as ice cream and enjoyed a walk to the beach.
Lisa Martin, home manager at Lever Edge Care Home, said: “Everyone had a brilliant day out to the seaside, especially Marion, who shared her memories of visiting as a teenager.
“Since she’s been back at the home, she’s not stopped talking about it and how much she enjoyed herself.
“The residents always enjoy opportunities to get out and about in the community, revisiting places they’ve been before as well as experiencing something new.”
