Home Press Releases Students transform garden for elderly care home residents
STUDENTS have transformed a Northallerton care home garden as part of their National Citizen Service (NCS).
The teenage volunteers from the Flying Futures NCS programme spent a week creating flower beds, planters and a painting a plaque at Beechwood Care Home, on Romanby Road.
Ten students, aged 15-to-17, carried out the work, using plants and flowers donated by White Gates Garden Centre and Andy’s Landscape & Gardening Services.
The group then painted a slab with NCS and their names and placed it in a corner of one of the new flower beds to commemorate their work.
Lesley Shepherd, regional manager for the Hill Care Group, which operates Beechwood Care Home, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Flying Futures and the young NCS volunteers.
“The work they have done in our garden is fabulous and looks amazing.
“Everyone at the care home is looking forward to seeing the plants and flowers grow over the coming years.”
