Home Press Releases Travel agency’s garden furniture donation to care home
A TRAVEL agency has treated care home residents to new garden furniture and afternoon tea with the Mayor.
The Ripon branch of Hays Travel had three new sets of garden chairs, tables and parasols delivered to Sycamore Hall Care Home, on Kearsley Road.
The furniture arrived ahead of an afternoon tea party partially funded by a raffle held in the travel agency’s office.
Staff also contributed to making food for the party, including sandwiches and cakes, which was attended by Ripon Mayor Cllr Pauline McHardy and Cllr Eamon Parkin.
Caroline Eltringham, Hays Travel Ripon branch manager, said: “John Hays is passionate about supporting local charities, schools and sports clubs throughout the year and, as we had already recently helped a local school and many sports clubs in the past, we decided to look into care homes.
“Upon speaking to Sycamore Hall Care Home, it was discussed that the residents would benefit from outdoor seating and we decided to help.
“We decided to fund raise in the branch with a raffle, which paid for the Ice Cream van to come, and all staff contributed to making food for the afternoon tea.
“We had three sets of Garden Furniture delivered prior to the event, paid for by Head Office.”
Chrissie Medway Steele, home manager at Sycamore Hall Care Home, said: “A massive thank you to Hays Travel for donating the amazing garden furniture.
“Our residents and their visitors will be making the most of them this summer, when they spend more time in our large, welcoming garden.
“The afternoon tea party was a massive success and the food was all delicious, thanks again to Hays Travel.
“Thanks also to Mayor Cllr McHardy and Cllr Parkin for joining us on the day. Everyone had a wonderful time.”
