Home Press Releases A trip to the seaside for Teesside care homes
A SEASIDE rendezvous saw elderly care home residents meet for a day at the beach.
Dozens of residents from two homes met in Seaton Carew, near Hartlepool, to catch up, make new friends and enjoy a fish and chip supper followed by ice cream.
Ingleby Care Home, in Stockton on Tees, switched their annual seaside trip from Saltburn to meet with sister home Queens Meadow Care Home, in Hartlepool.
The trip involved 23 residents, family and staff.
One of those residents from Ingleby, James Mahony, 84, said: “The staff are great for bringing us to the seaside.”
Queens Meadow husband and wide residents, Noel and Rita Hicks, 91 and 90 respectively, added: “It was really nice being out at the seaside.”
Kirsty Walsh, activities coordinator for Ingleby Care Home, said: “It was brilliant to meet up with the residents from our sister home, Queens Meadow.
“It was heart-warming to see the residents mix and make new friends, all while indulging in fish and chips and ice cream.”
Julie Armstrong, home manager for Queens Meadow Care Home, added: “The beach is on our doorstep and, when we take residents out, it brings back lots of childhood memories.
“It’s a joy to see the difference a trip to the seaside makes the residents.”
