Home Press Releases Youngsters deliver dozens of Christmas presents to elderly
NURSERY children have given dozens of Christmas presents to elderly care home residents in Sandiacre.
The children from Brookhill House Day Nursery, in Stapleford, near Nottingham, collected over 40 presents for residents to open on Christmas day.
They hand delivered the personalised gift bags to each resident living at Longmoor Lodge Care Home, on Longmoor Lane.
Each bag was decorated with a painting from the children and a resident’s name.
Resident Eileen Tippet, 101, said: “I always cry happy tears when they visit.”
The nursery and care home have been working closely together for over two years, with the children visiting often, including at Easter and to read with residents.
Julie Mulvany, home manager at Longmoor Lodge Care Home, said: “The children have been very busy asking for donations of Christmas presents for all 40 residents at Longmoor Lodge.
“We would like to thank the Nursery Staff and Children’s parents for their kind donations.
“And thank you to the children for our lovely Christmas card. We look forward to more visits and building new relationships up in the New Year.”
