Home Press Releases Care home residents tour Christmas past at museum
A TRIP into Christmas past was enjoyed by elderly care home residents during a visit to Preston Park Museum.
Residents from Mandale House Care Home, in Thornaby, enjoyed seeing the mansion and grounds decked in festive decorations.
Christmas trees lined the Victorian street, wreaths adorned the doors, fairy lights lit the buildings and the museum staff were dressed in period costume.
The residents toured the vintage shop before stopping for a coffee at the old tea rooms.
Resident Peter Wilson said: “They are very clever the way they are dressed.”
Tracy Wilson, activities coordinator at Mandale House Care Home, said: “The staff and volunteers were absolutely lovely and very helpful.
“I was extremely impressed with the whole experience and, best of all, the residents absolutely loved it. It’s amazing the way they have recreated times past.”
