Home Press Releases Former nurse promoted to home manager at The Gables
A CAREER nurse with a passion for elderly care has taken the top job at a Middlesbrough care home.
Kate Charlton has been promoted to home manager at The Gables Care Home, on Highfield Road.
She has spent more than 13 years working with the elderly, nine years as a nurse and three years as a deputy manager.
She joined The Gables in 2011 and quickly rose through the ranks with her enthusiasm for elderly healthcare.
Kate said: “Elderly care was only going to be short term for me until I felt I’d found my feet as a newly qualified nurse.
“But I fell in love with elderly care because I realised very quickly that they truly are the forgotten generation when it comes to healthcare.
“They need people like us to fight for them, to ensure they’re remembered by society and also get the high level of healthcare they actually deserve.”
She added: “It makes me proud to work with such a fantastic team here at The Gables.
“As a manager, I want to ensure our residents feel at home during what can be a very challenging time for them. I want their stay with us to be a happy and fulfilling experience.”
