Home Press Releases Mayor joins care home carol service
A CHRISTMAS carol service was enjoyed by dignitaries, staff, residents and relatives at a Rotherham care home.
The town’s Mayor and Mayoress were among guests at Broadacres Care Home, on Naylor Street, Parkgate, for the service.
It was led by Rev Matt Stone, from the Herringthorpe United Reformed Church, on Wickersley Road.
After the service Mayor Cllr Alan Buckley and Mayoress Sandra Buckley had a tour of the home and chatted to residents and visitors.
Resident Clarice Bloy, 104, received a handshake from Mayor Buckley after she sang every word from memory.
She said: “It’s a pleasure to meet you sir.”
Mayor Buckley said: “We’ve visited this home several times now and always have a lovely time.”
Mayoress Buckley added: “Broadacres is one of our favourites. We asked to visit at this time of year so we were looking forward to attending the carol service.”
Luke Owens, home manager at Broadacres Care Home, said: “We’d like to say a special thank you to Mayor and Mayoress Buckley for joining us for the carol service.
“Our thanks also to Rev Stone for leading the service as well as the staff, residents and relatives for joining us.
“It was a very special afternoon for the Broadacres.”
