Home Press Releases Music, dancing and high tea to celebrate Older Persons Day
INTERNATIONAL Day of Older Persons was celebrated in Ingleby Barwick with a tea dance and musical trip down memory lane.
Residents of Ingleby Care Home visited Western Social Club, in Middlesbrough, for a delicious high tea and a dance to their favourite tunes from the 40s, 50s and 60s.
The event was held to raise awareness and funds for Action Against Elderly Abuse and Friends of the Elderly.
Organised by the Home Group, a social enterprise and charity providing housing, health and social care, the tea dance raised £437 for the charities.
Ingleby Care Home resident, Olive Smith said: “It’s so good to go out and have a bit of a dance.”
Carol Singleton, home manager of Ingleby Care Home, on Lamb Lane, said: “At Ingleby we encourage our residents to attend tea dances and other events as it helps them to really feel part of the wider community.
“It was great to see everyone dancing to their favourite songs and having a wonderful time – and all for two very worthy causes.”
