Home Press Releases Hill Care chooses Macmillan for year of fundraising
A CARE home group has kickstarted a year of fundraising for one of Britain’s largest cancer charities by collecting hundreds of pounds at their annual conference.
The Hill Care Group, which operates care homes across the north of England, has nominated Macmillan Cancer Support as their chosen charity for 2019/20.
After the announcement, the company collected £851.10 from raffle ticket sales at their annual conference, held at Cedar Court Hotel, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Managers from the group of 38 care homes attended the event and were asked to vote for the charity they want to support over the next 12 months.
They will now lead fundraising activities at their homes to raise as much as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support ahead of next year’s conference.
In 2018/19, the group raised over £7,000.00 for the Stroke Association and, in 2017/18, they raised over £10,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Wendy Waddicor, managing director of the Hill Care Group, said: “Each year, our staff, residents, family members and friends do an absolutely amazing job of raising much needed funds for our chosen charity.
“This year, we have chosen Macmillan Cancer Support, which is a charity close to the hearts of everyone at Hill Care.
“Cancer can strike at any age but almost nine in ten cases in the UK are in people aged 50 or over.
“As carers of the elderly, everyone working at Hill Care knows someone who has been affected by cancer, so we look forward to supporting Macmillan’s important work over the coming 12 months.”
