Halton View Care Home, on Sadler Street, launched their appeal in support of Widnes Food Bank, which provides emergency food parcels to those in need.

A special Harvest Festival gathering was held at the care home for residents, staff, and family members to drop off their donations.

Residents decorated the home’s tables with autumn flowers for the occasion, as well as sang seasonal hymns and performed readings.

Donations included a wide range of food and drink, including tinned soup, pasta, ready meals, tea and coffee.

Home Manager Daniella Bennett said: “Our residents really enjoyed our Harvest Festival. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together, reflect on the season, and give back to our local community.

“Everyone has been very generous, and we are proud to support such an important cause.”

Joanne Sherwood, activities coordinator at Halton View Care Home, delivered the donations to Widnes Food Bank. She said: “Widnes Food Bank expressed its gratitude for the donations and the effort made by the home’s elderly residents.”

Hugh Rone, 81, one of the residents involved in the Harvest Festival event, added: “At my age I do not get out much anymore, but I still want to do things to help others.

“I remember times when neighbours looked out for each other, and that is what this feels like. It makes me happy to know these donations might bring someone a bit of comfort and joy.”
